Japanese-born Hishiki Tomoyuki and his Filipina wife Edeelyn didn’t expect that dining at Buddha-Bar Manila to escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban life would lead to an unexpected surprise. Tomoyuki has been residing with his wife in the Philippines for more than 10 years.
On one occasion, the couple decided to try the world-class bar and restaurant located at Picar Place along Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. There, they enjoyed refined Modern Asian cuisine and plunged into a magical atmosphere. Dining here — with a single receipt of P3,000 on ala carte or P25,000 on banquets — entitled the couple a chance to win a sleek and sporty luxury vehicle.
Last year, Buddha-Bar Manila launched the “Win A Maserati” promo to thank their loyal guests for their undying support and patronage for the past three years. To celebrate its 3rd anniversary, Buddha-Bar Manila held a Black Tie-themed party last January where they announced the promo winner. The luxurious Maserati Ghibli eventually ended up in the hands of Tomoyuki and his wife who could not wipe the smile off their faces when they were handed the key to their new posh automobile.
While the draw was the highlight of the night, the guests didn’t notice the long wait before the final revelation because they were having a blast while watching the Chicago (inspired by the classic Oscar-winning musical film starring Renee Zellwegger, Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta-Jones) number by the Dance Royalties and an exciting performance by the in-house bartenders. Hosting the event was the lovely actress-host Iza Calzado.
DJ Kirill Doomski provided spectacular house music. Madonna’s favorite disc jockey flew all the way from Buddha-Bar Russia where he is based to play the “Special Anniversary Mix.” Last year, the Queen of Pop picked DJ Doomski to warm-up her MDNA Tour in Ukraine. The iconic performer admires Kirill Doomski’s musical vision and choice, which is a pure delight to listen and groove to.
In between the special production numbers, Buddha-Bar Manila gave away other raffle prizes on its anniversary bash, including two local trips (one of which was a trip to Palawan for two with free airfare and accommodations), top quality liquor, hotel accommodations, high-end beauty products, among others.
Established in 2012, Buddha-Bar Manila is a franchise of the international bar, lounge and restaurant chain that has the in-crowd partying like crazy in major cities worldwide such a Paris, Washington, Dubai, Monte Carlo and Keiv. The brainchild of restaurateur Raymond Visan, the bar-restaurant brings cosmopolitan dining to a new height.
At first glance, the bar seemed intimidating with its imposing facade. But as soon as one entered this remarkable place, its soothing and exotic atmosphere, tinged with sexy and sultry, captivates anyone who dares to enter its threshold. With wrought-iron balustrades circa 18th century, the bar mezzanine gives a good vantage point to look at the serenely enthroned gigantic Buddha.
The whole place spells sophistication with its rich mahogany pieces of furniture with luxurious upholstery amid the decorated wood panels in lush red and gold motif. Complementing the interior is the amber-coloured lighting that highlights Chinese and Japanese art objects, Khmer statues and Portuguese mosaics, creating an opulent and refined look.
Enjoying a spacious area that can accommodate over 500 guests in its lounge, restaurant and roof deck, the three-storey establishment boasts of its sumptuous menu featuring the tantalizing Modern Asian cuisine. The dishes? They are inventiveness on a platter. The chef creates culinary art score that skillfully combines exotic delicacies with high-class cuisine.
Buddha-Bar Manila never runs out of big surprises. It is raffling off a brand new Range Rover Evoque through the “Dine for a Rover” promotion which runs until July 31, 2015.
For the past three years, Buddha Bar continues to prove why every visit to this popular hang-out place is an exquisite experience in itself.
